NEW: Bobbin Head Surprise in Ku-ring-gai Chase NP
Time & Location
About The Event
We say “surprise” and we mean it. This hidden away spot in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park will amaze you with its fascinating history and stunning scenery. It is rich in Aboriginal sites, European history and native flora and fauna. Steep-sided river valleys lend it a rugged and spectacular beauty. Our lunch spot is lovely Waratah Bay, where you’ll see the remains of the holiday resort set up by a boat builder called Edward Windybank in the late 1800s. We’ll visit the area proposed in 1889 as the new capital of Australia. Under a scheme that now seems more Disneyland that Great Southern Land, there were to be buildings replicating Windsor Castle, the Tower of London and suspension bridge to create a grand entrance at Bobbin Head. We’ll have morning tea near the home of Skippy, the bush kangaroo. And there are more memorable stories! Led by Cathy Miller. Grade Easy. $98 per person.
