About The Event
The Macdonald River is a tributary of the mighty Hawkesbury at Wiseman’s Ferry. When European settlement commenced in this area, relationships with the Aboriginals were reasonably harmonious, until the tribes realised that the whites intended to stay and claim ownership of the lands. Ownership was completely alien to the Aboriginals, who cared for the land, but did not ‘own’ it - Kate Grenville’s multi-award-winning novel The Secret River which deals with this issue, comes to life! It’s a mostly wide waterway with overhanging trees, sweeping valley views and riverside shore break options. This is the last in our series of not-to-be-missed Hawkesbury familiarisations, led by Duncan Johnstone.
An easy, relaxing day.
